FAQ
Can I bring my dog?
Sorry no , as much as we love dogs, it would not be safe and would scare the alpacas.

Is here a minimum age to walk an Alpaca?
Yes, for safety purposes we feel the minimum age is 10 and must be accompanied by an adult,

Are there toilet facilities I can use?
Yes we have a Porta Loo, nothing glamourous but is available for guests to use.

My friend has booked an experience or has a voucher, Can I just come along to take photos without paying?
Unfortunately we do not have spectators, therefore if you would like to "come along" then please book online or email us to book and pay.

Is it ok to take photos?
Yes, this is your experience and we want you to go away with memories and what better way than to capture them with photos.

Can I smoke or vape?
Sorry no smoking or vaping is allowed on the farm.

Is there a minimum age for the afternoon tea?
Yes, our afternoon tea is in a peaceful setting, surrounded by nature which we feel is all part of the experience. We therefore feel that young children can become frustrated to have to sit still and not run about. We therefore feel that a minimum age of 7 is suitable for the afternoon tea. (Unless it's a private booking) to be able to keep the peaceful setting. Younger children maybe more suited to the Meet and Feed experience.

Can you cater for Vegans or Gluten free?
Yes we can cater for these dietary requirements, however you do need to mention this at the time of booking.

Do you have wheelchair access?
If you are coming for the afternoon tea or meet and greet then there is a small amount of gravel to go over, however we have found that a wheelchair can go over some gravel. We can help with this. Please note our toilet is a porta loo so not big enough for a wheelchair. Wheelchairs are not suitable for the alpaca walks but accessible for the afternoon tea and the meet and feed, providing you are ok to go over a small amount of gravel.

My mum has mobility issues, can she still do the alpaca walk?
To do the Alpaca walk you do need to be mobile and be able to walk over some uneven ground and have hands free to walk the alpaca, it is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. You could try the afternoon tea or meet and greet.

Do you do private bookings?
Yes we do, please email to discuss.

Is there public transport to Slowhayes Alpacas?
There are no buses so the best option would be to get a train to Southampton central or Totton or Ashurst then a Taxi to us. You will need to pre book a taxi from Ashurst. There maybe taxis available from Southampton or Totton. Please check google map for location. There is an alpaca sign outside our house -please look out for that when arriving by taxi.

Can I just turn up or do I need to book?
You will need to book in advance, we are not open all day so you will need to book an experience in advance for the specified experience which start and finishes at the specified time.

Are you open for experiences all year round?
Some of our experiences such as the walk or the combined walk and afternoon tea are only open from May to September, however our afternoon teas are open all year as are our Meet and feed experiences. We have a cosy cabin with a wood burner for when the weather is cold or wet and an undercover area to feed the alpacas.

Do you do vouchers?
Yes we do, our vouchers are valid for a year although the walks and combined walk and afternoon tea is valid from the months of May through to September, so please make sure you use them between these months as if the voucher has expired we are unable to exstend them.
